Dr. Andrew Swan Keeps Updating His Skills

Doctor Andrew Swan has served as a cataract surgeon over the last 30 years and has done so by constantly upgrading his tools and technology. In the past, surgeons have used multifocal lenses to perform cataract surgery on patients to fix vision for all distances.

Recently, Doctor Andrew Swan has been operating with a trifocal lens made by Alcon and called PanOptix. While it’s been available for years in Europe, it only recently got approval from the Food and Drug Administration to be used in America. After the experience with the old methods, Swan says that the PanOptix lens is greatly improving his patients.

A huge benefit when comparing the two lenses is the immediate vision improvement. With the old lens, patients wouldn’t see immediate results and instead would have improvements over time. With the new lens, patients have their perfect vision immediately, along with improvements in all three distances.

Doctor Andrew Swan specializes in cataract surgery at the Eye Center of Southern Connecticut in Hamden. He’s dedicated to his community and has served Hamden specifically since 2006. His practice has satellite offices in Branford and Cheshire. Visit the Eye Center online at www.eyecenterct.com
